Authenticity Makes The World Go Around

The presentation of your life, if you choose to share it, does not have to be easily digestible or perfectly curated for whatever organizations decide will sell this month. The mess is good. Waking up in a regular house that isn't painted beige & grey is fine, not having a 12 step skin care routine is fine too. Drinking mint tea instead or hot chocolate instead of matcha is fine. I swear if you don't mimic something that you see online that is perfectly marketed to attach to your desires (aka your wallet), your life is just as beautiful & just as perfect. Even if it's a little messy. It's you, and if you're going to give this world the privilege to know you then they should know the real you. Not the one you think will be acceptable because it already was.

Are You New Here?

Amelia Dimoldenberg, the genius behind Chicken Shop Date, gave a speech at her alma mater's graduation ceremony and in it she said "If there is creativity in you it will find a way to be seen" (not verbatim).  During your life, or perhaps I should say during my life, there are these moments where I hear something and for some reason it's highlighted in my brain. Even if I don't know why right away, and her speech was one of those moments. So this blog is a way to allow that creativity a way to be seen so it no longer punishes me for keeping it locked up.  I have many thoughts, on many things, perhaps on everything and writing has always been an outlet for me for as long as I can remember. Negative Emotions Deserve Space To Exist Too

I'm sitting in my bedroom on this Sunday evening missing someone who caused me a lot more pain than joy. But that doesn't matter tonight, because his absence is making me quite sad at the moment. So I'm staring at his contact in my phone, knowing that the erasure of this feeling is only one gentle tap of my screen away. And of course, as a music enthusiast I have my saddest playlist crooning in the background (linked below, if you also want to deliberately make yourself sad). So, I am really deep in this longing for him right now. I haven't pressed that icon to call him though and I'm wondering why would I?  Too many times we desire to alter emotions in their natural state.
